Siebers named PNC Achievers student-athlete of the week

DURHAM- Duke Junior Male Golfer Ian Sibers was named Duke’s PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following his first collegiate medalist honor.

Siebers helped Duke’s men’s golf team sweep the Georgetown Intercollegiate last week as the junior claimed the co-medallist with a 5-under 211. He entered the final day of play sitting at three head shots and played a steady front nine, making the turn with par par 36 during the first half of his turn.

The Bellevue, Wash. native quickly made it through the 10th hole to enter the red numbers and sat just one stroke off the lead with three holes to go. Siebers birdied on the 17th and then made a 40-foot putt on the final hole to ensure he finished joint-medalist.

The Blue Devils are back in action Oct. 21-23 when they travel to Alpharetta, Georgia to compete at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.

PNC Achievers is a student honors platform that is active in nearly 20 schools and universities in PNC Bank’s service area. Winners are selected locally by juries appointed at each respective school, using a set of criteria that include athletic achievement, academic achievement, community service, and student leadership.
