Mumbai Sessions Court denies bail to Nigerian national implicated in bank fraud | Bombay News

The Mumbai Sessions Court has rejected the bail request of a Nigerian national who was allegedly involved in the siphoning ₹5.43 crores from several Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait account holders by creating 78 fake accounts.
Rejecting Michael Okhonko’s bail plea, Extra Sessions Judge M Sadrani observed that given the evidence gathered against the accused and the nature of the offences, it was not appropriate to grant bail .

The investigation was handed over to the Cyber Cell South Region Police, who also arrested Samir Khan, Prabhanshu Jatav, Dinesh Jatav and Ravi Raje in connection with the case.
Deputy Prosecutor, Abhijit Gondwal had informed the court that when the police visited the defendant’s address in New Delhi, they found 11 mobiles, two hard drives, three laptops and several SIM cards in his possession . All SIM cards were purchased on behalf of different people. The accused was arrested on October 31, 2021.
His VISA expired in 2016; he was still residing illegally in the country. Okhonko is the mastermind of crime and used to pay ₹2,000 to each person who helped him open a new bank account.
