GE15: Haniza to bank on service record in Hulu Selangor fight

PETALING JAYA: Haniza Talha, Party Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) candidate for Hulu Selangor, will build on her service record as a former Selangor exco member and three-term Assembly member in the 15th election general (GE15).

Haniza said that since she was elected in 2008 as a member of Taman Medan Assembly, she has worked tirelessly for the people and spoken out for them.

The Vice President of PBM also said that during her tenure as Chair of the Selangor Housing and Urban Living Committee between 2018 and 2020, she had developed plans to provide affordable housing.

“Selangor is a developed state, but unfortunately many people still cannot afford to own a home there, especially the urban poor.

“Under the Rumah Selangorku program, when I was a member of the state exco, we targeted building 30,000 low-cost houses by 2023. Between 2018 and 2020, more than 10,000 Rumah Selangorku were built.

“Many residents of Selangor have been able to have a roof over their heads, thanks to this initiative,” Haniza said in a statement Sunday, November 6.

Haniza added that during his tenure, the state local government abandoned projects oversight committee was established in 2019 and as a result, many abandoned projects were revived.

This, she said, brought relief to aggrieved parties who bought homes in these abandoned projects.

Meanwhile, to help the urban poor cope with the high cost of living, Haniza said she has introduced community farming projects and food banks.

Haniza also said that her other initiatives as a member of the Assembly include the establishment of two libraries in Taman Medan, offering free English classes for children and women, as well as classes for special children.

“I have also upgraded and revamped the common areas where my constituents stay, such as providing a fresh coat of paint for apartments, repairing damaged infrastructure like leaking pipes, and setting up recycling centers,” she said.

Haniza, who was also the former Deputy Speaker of Selangor State Assembly, was confident that her contributions over the past 14 years as an elected representative would give her an edge in the GE15.

Haniza said her past constituents can attest that she was always on the ground serving their needs.

“Please give PBM and me a chance. I will continue to fulfill my duties to the voters diligently and with utmost dedication,” Haniza added.
